The Week Junior has been inspiring children to read since 2015. Our weekly Book Club section features the latest children’s books, interviews with authors and illustrators, reader reviews and recommendations. Our Book Awards celebrate the very best children’s books, while our Book Festival - during October half term - brings books to life with author events, activities and workshops for children of all ages.
This summer we’re thrilled to bring you a wealth of exciting activities, resources and competitions to help your child discover the power of reading for pleasure. Dive into a world where every page turns into an adventure and every story unlocks their imagination.
Explore our site, join the fun, and together, let's make reading your child's superpower.
Buying a new book? WHSmith is giving The Week Junior readers a 20% off voucher to use when purchasing books this summer.
Showcasing a brilliant selection of children's books, The Week Junior Book Awards honour excellence in 13 categories including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, graphic novel, STEM and audiobooks.
The winners will be decided by judges including the Children’s Laureate 2022-24 Joseph Coelho OBE, TV presenters Ricky Boleto and Jess French, author and illustrator Nadia Shireen and Comics Laureate Bobby Joseph.
We’re also inviting children to be judges by voting for the Children’s Book Cover of the Year award and our Children’s Choice award.
The winners will be announced on 30 September 2024.
Our Book Festival is back this October half term and we'll be welcoming a host of brilliant authors and illustrators to the Barbican in London for a fun-packed day of events and workshops.
