The Week Junior and SuperKind joined forces to launch the Fundraising for a Better World campaign.
This past winter, we challenged young people to make a difference by fundraising for a cause close to their hearts - and now, we’re thrilled to announce our Top 10 Fundraisers.
These incredible children have not only raised vital funds but have also shown just how powerful kindness, determination, and generosity can be. Their efforts have made a real impact, changing lives and inspiring others to take action.
We’re celebrating each of their amazing stories - so go have a read and be inspired.
Meet our Top 10 Fundraisers
Lyra F.
Being a cat lover, Lyra decided to raise money for Cats Protection Isle of Wight. She chose to do a 23-mile-long walk as her challenge, across the Isle of Wight. The walk started on the West Coast at the iconic Needles, taking in scenic chalk cliffs, forests, and salt marshes with all their wildlife en route.
It was a cold, wet day and there was plenty of mud, but fuelled by cheese sandwiches and a Yorkie bar, she pushed through to complete the walk in 9 hours.
Lyra raised £1,685 (+£237.64 Gift Aid) for her charity.
Alys H.
Women's rights are just as vital as men's rights. However, in many countries they are commonly ignored. ActionAid stands against this and many other injustices that women and young girls face. This is the reason Alys chose to support ActionAid. She chose to row 15km in 30 days as rowing is a sport that requires a lot of strength.
Although it is all about strength, it is not only a man's sport; many women row too. It wasn't an easy challenge and most days Alys didn’t want to do it. However, she is happy she did and might do it again some day. She hopes that in the future many others will do so too.
Alys raised £340.01 (+£62.31 Gift Aid) for her charity.
Joe L.
After reading about SuperKind and The Week Junior's joint fundraising campaign, Joe was inspired to set up his own fundraiser. He opted to do a bike ride around his local area in aid of Cats Protection, from whom his family adopted two kittens last autumn.
Joe set up his fundraising page and planned out the 20-mile route himself. Despite some particularly grotty weather on the big day, Joe completed the ride as planned (with his support crew – aka dad). Joe's family are incredibly proud of him for this SuperKind initiative.
Joe raised £310 (+£72.82 Gift Aid) for his charity.
Alicia W.
For the entire year of 2025, Alicia decided to give up candy, chocolate, and soft drinks to help donate to Battersea Cats and Dogs Home, a charity that helps stray cats and dogs find a home and get a fresh start. She is committed to helping these unfortunate cats and dogs by raising funds to provide them with shelter and care.
As a token of appreciation to those who have donated, Alicia has created artwork and decorated bags which she has sent to supporters of Battersea Cats and Dogs Home.
Alicia raised £251 for her charity.
Alba W.
Alba wanted to support her school and PTA to fundraise for some new play equipment for the playground. Outdoor play at school is crucial for children’s development and wellbeing.
She set herself a goal to fundraise £200 by challenging herself to do a hybrid fitness event for children at a local gym run by AEPT. This involved running and various strength exercises. She was very proud to exceed her initial goal and thankful to everyone who donated.
Alba raised £210 (+£30.42 Gift Aid) for her cause.
Mia J.
Mia was keen to help her school fundraise for the 25 for 2025. This was to improve the outdoor play and learning for the children at her school. She baked 25 cookies, did 25 star jumps every day from 1st- 25th February and also made 25 Loom bands for her family and friends.
This was her first time participating in a fundraiser, and it was a great way for Mia to learn discipline as well as make a commitment. She was adamant that she would not let her sponsors down, and she dedicated time to completing her tasks.
Mia raised £125 (+£24.52 Gift Aid) for her cause.
Sienna & Luca
Sienna & Luca did a sponsored walk on 15 March to Ivinghoe Beacon to raise money for upgrades to their school playground.
They raised £105 (+£25.69 Gift Aid) for their cause.
Kyla L.
Kyla decided to support two different charities - Cancer Research UK and Circulatory Diseases Across Europe. Kyla chose these charities because she wants to see a world in which modern medicine can help cure patients and enable them to go on to lead a happy life.
Kyla raised money by baking cookies and brownies of the donors' choice for anyone who donated. Kyla is grateful to be able to take a first step in changing our world and helping other people.
Kayla raised £100 (+£24.56 Gift Aid) for her charities.
Henry O.
Henry was really excited to be selected by his school to run in the Mini London Marathon. He looked forward to running down The Mall and crossing the finish line. Henry raised money for his school PTA.
Although he may not get to enjoy this equipment himself, it would be lovely to think that his younger sister and her friends might get to.
Henry raised £95 (+23.24 Gift Aid) for his cause.
Andrea A.
Andrea took part in a sponsored silence that lasted an entire day to raise funds for Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. Inspired by a challenge she read about in The Week Junior, Andrea remained silent for the day, encouraging her friends and family to sponsor her.
Her efforts raised vital funds for the hospital’s work with children and families. Andrea’s initiative reflects the school’s core values of kindness and compassion, demonstrating her dedication to making a positive impact in her community.
Andrea raised £77 (+£15.63 Gift Aid) for her cause.
